Russian Mobile Phone Subscriptions Pass 100 Million

According to data by Russian telecoms, a total of 4.8 new subscribers were added in the month of July, 500,000 more than in June. With the new additions the total number of subscriptions in Russia now exceeds 100 million. The two largest telecoms are MTS and VimpelCom, who both have market shares of around 35%. MTS has a greater share of metropolitan areas, while VimpelCom has a strong presence in regional markets.
